FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

No experience is required.

If you’re new to kitesurfing, we recommend starting with our 1.5-hour Intro Lesson, which is designed to safely introduce you to the basics before committing to a full course.

Your Intro Lesson focuses on:

  • Understanding wind and conditions
  • Kite control and safety systems
  • Assisted flying time (conditions permitting)
  • Personal coaching based on your ability

It’s the best way to see if kitesurfing is right for you.

Not at all.

The Intro Lesson is a standalone session. There’s no obligation to continue — but most students do once they experience it.

If you decide to continue, you’ll receive a $50 Intro credit when booking a course within 14 days.

It’s simple:

  1. Complete an Intro Lesson
  2. Book a course within 14 days
  3. Receive $50 off your course price

The credit is applied automatically when booking.

Our courses are based on total hours, not numbered lessons.

Your course hours are delivered over a combination of 1.5 and 2-hour sessions, depending on:

  • Wind conditions
  • Safety
  • Your progression

This flexible approach helps maximise learning and reduce fatigue.

Kitesurfing depends heavily on conditions.

Shorter sessions are ideal for:

  • Learning new skills
  • Staying focused
  • Avoiding overload

Longer sessions are better once skills improve. We adjust session lengths to get the best outcome, not to fit a rigid schedule.

Everyone learns at a different pace.

As a general guide:

  • Some students are comfortable riding after 5–7.5 hours
  • Others prefer additional coaching for confidence and consistency

Starting with an Intro Lesson allows us to recommend the best next step for you.

Safety comes first.

If conditions aren’t suitable:

  • We’ll reschedule your lesson
  • Or adjust the session to focus on skills that can be taught safely

You’ll never be forced into unsafe or unproductive conditions.

We also recommend taking a look at the Kayak Fremantle Travel Guide to see what else you can do in the Fremantle area.

Lessons may be private or semi-private, depending on conditions and availability.

We keep instructor-to-student ratios low to ensure:

  • Safety
  • Personal attention
  • Faster progression

All lessons include:

  • Kiteboarding equipment
  • Wetsuit (if needed)
  • Safety gear

Woodman Point is a prime teaching location only 10 minutes south of Fremantle, it’s where we’ve been based for over 15 years. Please look at our LOCATION page for more information.

This depends on:

  • Conditions
  • Fitness
  • Confidence
  • Previous board sports experience

Our goal is not to rush you, but to help you become safe and self-sufficient as efficiently as possible.

Yes.

Many students start with a smaller course and add more hours as needed. We’re happy to recommend the best option based on your progress.

When taught properly, yes.

We place a strong emphasis on:

  • Safety systems
  • Awareness
  • Controlled progression

All lessons are run by experienced instructors and adapted to conditions.

That’s completely normal.

Most students:

  1. Start with an Intro Lesson
  2. Decide on a course afterward

If you’re unsure, feel free to contact us — we’re happy to help.

You don’t need to be super fit.

Basic swimming ability and moderate fitness are sufficient. Technique and awareness matter far more than strength.
